Privacy & Cookie Policy

This is a translation of the Spanish privacy policy. The site is operated from Spain and subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation; in case of any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.

This site collects the minimum data it needs to work. There are no user accounts, no sign-up is required to read anything and, until advertising is switched on, no tracking cookies are placed in your browser.

1. Who is responsible

The data controller is the private individual who operates Mentor Explorer, with no economic activity tied to the site. You can get in touch about anything related to your data at info@mentorexplorer.com.

2. What data is processed

There are only three sources of data, and none requires you to create an account.

  • What you send through a form. When you post a review, suggest a profile, request a correction or report content, we store the text you write, the name or nickname you enter and, only if you provide it voluntarily, your contact email. The email is never published: it’s only used to reply to you or ask for clarification.
  • A technical identifier derived from your IP address. The address itself is not stored: we store a cryptographic digest computed with a secret key of the site, from which the original address cannot be recovered. It is used only to limit mass, automated form submissions.
  • Public professional information about the people in the directory. It comes from their own websites, channels and publications, or from the media, and is published with its source. It is covered in the legal notice, which explains its scope and limits.

No special categories of data are processed, no behavioral profiles are built and no automated decisions with legal effects are made about anyone.

3. Purposes and legal bases

  • Publishing your review. Legal basis: your consent, given by ticking the confirmation box before submitting. You can withdraw it by asking for your review to be removed.
  • Handling suggestions, corrections and reports. Legal basis: the legitimate interest in keeping information accurate and, when a request reports unlawful content, compliance with the obligations of information society services law.
  • Preventing form abuse. Legal basis: the legitimate interest in protecting the service from mass automated submissions. It is the least invasive processing possible: an irreversible digest instead of the address.
  • Publishing directory profiles. Legal basis: the legitimate interest in informing about public professional activity, in connection with freedom of expression and information.

4. How long data is kept

  • Published reviews and their associated data, for as long as the review remains published.
  • Reviews rejected in moderation and requests received, for as long as needed to justify the decision taken.
  • Admin panel login attempt records are deleted automatically after 24 hours.

You can ask for early deletion of anything you have sent at any time.

5. Who else is involved

Data is not shared with third parties for their own use, sold, or used for commercial purposes. Technical providers acting on the controller’s behalf are involved:

  • Supabase, database and file storage. Data is hosted in the Frankfurt region, in the European Union.
  • Vercel, website hosting and delivery. Requests may be processed in data centers outside the European Economic Area.
  • Resend, delivery of internal notifications that something has arrived for review. Those notifications include the content of the submitted form so it can be handled. It is never used to send communications to you or any kind of newsletter.

Both are providers based in the United States. Any international transfers rely on the mechanisms set out in Chapter V of the General Data Protection Regulation.

6. Cookies

Today this site places no analytics, tracking or advertising cookies, neither its own nor third-party, so no cookie banner is shown either: there would be nothing to consent to.

Only two cookies exist, both technical and strictly necessary:

  • Language (idioma). It is only created if you switch language with the flag selector, and it stores nothing but the language you chose so we don’t switch it back. It lasts one year and you can delete it from your browser.
  • Admin panel session. It is only created when the site’s administrator logs in, cannot be accessed from JavaScript and has no effect on anyone who simply browses the site.

To show you the site in your language the first time you visit, we read the language your browser sends with every request. It is not stored or linked to you.

This will change when two planned services are switched on, and this page will be updated before that happens:

  • Advertising. Once enabled, the advertising provider and its partners may use cookies to measure and personalize ads. At that point a cookie notice will be added so you can accept, reject or configure them before any are placed.
  • Anti-bot verification on forms. It uses a technical cookie from the provider, needed to tell a person from an automated program, with no advertising purpose.

7. Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and withdraw any consent you have given, by writing to info@mentorexplorer.com. For anything about a profile’s content, the correction form on that profile also works and is usually the fastest route.

Exercising these rights is free. If you believe your request has not been handled properly, you can file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos), the competent supervisory authority.

8. Minors

The site is not aimed at children under fourteen and asks them for no data. If we detect that information about a minor has been submitted without the necessary authorization, it will be deleted.

9. Changes to this policy

Any change will be published on this page with its update date. Significant changes, such as switching on advertising, will also be announced on the site itself.
