Utah-based YouTube strategist, founder of the agency Creatus and the VidSummit conference, author of The YouTube Formula and executive producer of The Chosen. Sells the Channel JumpStart program and paid consultations.
Derral Eves is an American YouTube strategist and digital media producer from Hurricane, Utah. According to Wikipedia, he was born in 1974, graduated from Southern Utah University in public relations and advertising, and worked as assistant director of public relations at a Utah hospital before founding the interactive agency Creatus in 1999. He is also known as an executive producer of the series The Chosen, where he led the audience-building and crowdfunding strategy, as described in an interview by Steven D. Greydanus published on Decent Films.
His companies are Creatus, LLC, the entity named on the Channel JumpStart order form, and VidSummit, an annual conference for video creators that Wikipedia dates to 2013. The VidSummit website lists the 2026 edition for September 29 to October 1 in Dallas, Texas.
He publishes on the YouTube channel @derraleves, which showed 602K subscribers when read on September 13, 2026. The channel's links point to derraleves.com, Instagram (@derraleves), X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Patreon.
His main paid program is Channel JumpStart, a 12-week online course with eight training sections, a private group and weekly live Q&A calls. The order form lists $6,000 as a one-time payment, or two payments of $3,149 or three of $2,330; the sales page describes an onboarding call with Derral before starting. Through consult.derraleves.com he offers one-on-one consultations with him or with members of his team; the page does not publish prices and gives a phone number to ask for them. His book, The YouTube Formula: How Anyone Can Unlock the Algorithm to Drive Views, Build an Audience, and Grow Revenue, was published by Wiley in 2021 and, according to Wikipedia, reached the Wall Street Journal best-seller list in February 2021.
His marketing material states that he has helped generate over 100 billion views and taken 34 channels from zero to one million subscribers; Wikipedia cites a figure of more than 74 billion views. These are his own or promotional figures and no independent audit of them has been located. He is often described in interviews as a mentor to MrBeast.
On reputation, what can be checked is limited: no FTC action under his name or Creatus was found in a search of ftc.gov on September 13, 2026, and the Wikipedia article on him records no lawsuits or controversies as of that date. The OpenCorporates record for Creatus LLC (Utah) could not be read because the site requested a captcha, and VidSummit ticket prices could not be read from the event website.
