Who is Ali Abdaal?

Ali Abdaal is a British YouTuber, entrepreneur and author who publishes content on productivity, studying, YouTube and online business. According to his own website, he was born in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1994, grew up in Lesotho and moved to the UK in 2003. He studied medicine at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, and worked for two years as a junior doctor in the NHS, at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and at West Suffolk Hospital, before leaving medicine in 2020 to work full-time on his YouTube channel and business. His about page states that he moved from London to Hong Kong in 2024, and the UK Companies House register lists Hong Kong as his country of residence.

His UK company is Ali Abdaal Ltd (Companies House number 12112883, incorporated on 19 July 2019, active, with Ali Abdaal as director since incorporation), which appears as data controller in the privacy policy of aliabdaal.com. The terms and conditions of the Lifestyle Business Academy site name Sparkle Studios Limited, based in Kowloon, Hong Kong, as operator. His about page also describes him as co-founder of Sparkle Studios, which builds productivity apps.

He started his YouTube channel in 2017 while at medical school. On September 13, 2026, the channel @aliabdaal showed 6.69 million subscribers and the TikTok account @aliabdaal 394,500 followers; both accounts are linked from his website. His free weekly newsletter, LifeNotes, reports more than 443,000 readers according to his own site. His book Feel-Good Productivity was published in 2023; his website describes it as a New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller translated into more than 35 languages, and Penguin sells the UK paperback edition released on January 9, 2025.

What he sells: the Lifestyle Business Academy's Incubator is a six-month coached programme for employed professionals who want to turn their expertise into a service business, with a dedicated 1:1 coach (12 calls over six months), live roundtables, a roadmap and a student community. Access is by application followed by an interview call with the admissions team, and the price is not published: the sales page says tuition is explained on the call and is less than $10,000. The programme advertises a "$10,000 Graduation Guarantee": students who meet listed conditions and have not reached $10,000 in revenue after six months continue with coaching at no extra tuition until they do. A separate Accelerator programme, with its own tuition, is offered by invitation to graduates. He also sells two self-paced courses with lifetime access and a 30-day money-back guarantee: Part-Time YouTuber Academy ($995) and LifeOS ($297). Superfocus, a productivity app linked from his website, lists a founding membership at $199 per year. The student results on the sales pages (for example, $40,000 in five months) are presented by the company itself and have no independent source; the page itself labels them as examples, not typical results. His about page states that the business has more than 20 employees and passed $1 million in annual revenue in 2020, also without independent verification.

Reputation: he has been interviewed about his book by The Bookseller (Caroline Sanderson, September 15, 2023) and appeared in a Good Morning America segment published by ABC News. Companies House lists Ali Abdaal Ltd as active (checked September 13, 2026). We have not located any court ruling or regulatory sanction under his name in the sources reviewed for this profile. Criticism of his productivity approach circulates in newsletters and videos by other creators; it is not summarised here because it is not press coverage or a public ruling.

Not confirmed: the tuition of the Lifestyle Business Academy and the Accelerator, the number of students enrolled, and the revenue figures he reports.
