George Kamel is an American personal finance commentator who works at Ramsey Solutions, the Franklin, Tennessee, company founded by Dave Ramsey. The company presents him as a "Ramsey Personality": he co-hosts The Ramsey Show, the call-in radio program led by Dave Ramsey, which he joined as a co-host in 2021, and Smart Money Happy Hour, a podcast he co-hosts with Rachel Cruze. According to his Ramsey biography, he holds a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Mobile and is certified as a financial coach through Ramsey Financial Coach Master Training, a program of the company itself. His age and date of birth are not given in any of the sources reviewed.
He joined Ramsey Solutions in 2013 as a temporary social media worker. In a January 2026 interview published by Money Guy, he described moving through roles as email marketing coordinator, social media coordinator for the company's personalities and host/emcee of videos and live events before becoming a personality. In that same interview he said he has remained a salaried employee of the company rather than starting his own business. His own public story, told in his book and on the Ramsey site, is that he arrived with about $40,000 in student loan and credit card debt, paid it off in 18 months following Ramsey's Baby Steps and reached a millionaire net worth in under ten years; these are his own statements, with no independent verification.
His largest audience is the George Kamel YouTube channel (@GeorgeKamel), launched in May 2023 as part of the Ramsey Network, the company's media arm; Ramsey Solutions lists it among its own shows. As read on September 16, 2026, the channel had 613,000 subscribers and about 2,400 videos. His TikTok account (@george.kamel), linked from his Ramsey biography, showed 578,700 followers on the same date. He is also on Instagram, Facebook and X, and the channel is distributed as an audio podcast.
What he sells under his own name is one book: Breaking Free From Broke: The Ultimate Guide to More Money and Less Stress, published by Ramsey Press on January 16, 2024 (304 pages). The Ramsey store listed the hardcover at $18.97 on September 16, 2026, with e-book and audiobook editions also available. The book covers credit cards and credit scores, student and car loans, mortgages, investing traps and consumer spending, and is marketed as a "#1 national bestseller" by Ramsey; that ranking was not checked against an independent list. He has no course, coaching program or paid community of his own. The resource page on his Ramsey profile points to company products (Financial Peace University, the EveryDollar budgeting app, the SmartVestor and insurance referral programs, Churchill Mortgage), which belong to Ramsey Solutions and its partners, not to him. He appears on the lineup of The Ramsey Show Live, a ticketed company event with 300 seats per venue, but no dates or prices were posted when checked, and speaking bookings are handled by Ramsey's team without public rates.
On reputation: press coverage found is interview- and explainer-style, such as KY3 (April 10, 2025) on millennial money mistakes and GOBankingRates (October 12, 2025) on his defense of the Baby Steps against criticism that they are outdated. Criticism of the Ramsey method is aimed at the company's advice as a whole, and he has answered it in his own videos. No FTC action under his name was found (FTC site search, September 16, 2026). He does not present himself as a registered investment adviser; FINRA BrokerCheck lists a registered representative named George Kamel based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and nothing in the sources reviewed connects that record to him. What could not be confirmed: his age, his sales figures and the independent basis of the bestseller claim.
