Juan Lombana is a Mexican digital marketing and artificial intelligence educator and the founder of Mercatitlán, the brand under which he sells courses and a community. Forbes México describes him as holding a degree in Business and Information Technology Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). According to the same article, while still a student he earned a Google tools certification, joined Google's marketing team at age 19 and stayed there three years before resigning to focus on Mercatitlán, which started as his personal blog.
Mercatitlán appears on Forbes México's 30 Promesas de los Negocios list. In the fact box accompanying that article, published on February 13, 2021 and written by Enrique Hernández, the outlet lists Juan Lombana as the team, 2017 as the founding year, twenty employees, revenue of MXN 16.8 million in 2020 and an expected MXN 35.3 million for 2021, plus more than 25,000 paying students at the time. We have found no mention of partners or co-founders of Mercatitlán: both Forbes and his own about page place him alone at the helm. The company's registered legal name does not appear on the legal pages of mercatitlan.com that we were able to review.
His about page on mercatitlan.com also lists corporate clients (Coca-Cola, Citibanamex, BBVA Bancomer, Best Buy, Kellogg's, Telcel, American Express, Walmart, Unilever, Scotiabank, SAP, among others) and recognitions such as "Google Expert en Marketing" and "Google Sprint Master". These are claims he publishes himself, and we have not found an independent source verifying them, except for the Forbes recognition, which does appear in the outlet itself.
He posts on Instagram as @juanlombana, an account linked from mercatitlan.com that presents itself as "Juan Lombana | Mercatitlán": 650,000 followers on September 9, 2026. On TikTok, as @juanlombana.mercatitlan, also linked from his website, he had 651,000 followers on the same date. His YouTube channel, "Juan Lombana - IA para Emprendedores" (@JuanLombanaIA), had 288,000 subscribers and about a thousand videos, and hosts the Spanish-language podcast "¿Cómo funciona tu negocio?", with 42 episodes and a last update on August 6, 2025. He also runs a newsletter, Mercatinews, and a LinkedIn profile.
He sells three distinct things. The first is AI Troopers, a paid community hosted on Skool and titled "AI Troopers - Vende con IA", with weekly live sessions and training material: $57 per month or $570 per year, with 959 members on September 9, 2026. The second is the Curso de Anuncios en línea, a recorded, self-paced course with more than thirty lessons on advertising on Facebook, Instagram, Google, YouTube and TikTok, more than 550 slides and downloadables, six months of access, a certificate and a community: $197, discounted from $394 on the sales page checked on September 9, 2026, with a seven-day money-back guarantee. The third is the Marketing Bootcamp, a two-day in-person workshop that his website advertises without a published price. He also has a book, "Click Swipe Tap Tap", and a school hosted on Hotmart. All purchases are made directly on the website, with no application process or mandatory sales call.
As for his reputation, what can be verified comes down to one article and two absences worth putting in context. The coverage is the Forbes México article of February 13, 2021, written by Enrique Hernández, as part of the 30 Promesas de los Negocios list: it is a favorable profile built on his own statements, but with revenue and headcount figures reported by the outlet. A search for his name and the Mercatitlán brand restricted to dof.gob.mx and profeco.gob.mx, run on September 9, 2026, returns no rulings or sanctions in his name. A Google search for his name together with the Spanish words for controversy, criticism and lawsuit, run on the same day, returns no press-documented controversy and no public ruling. This directory does not include complaint platforms or review aggregators, so what you read here about his reputation is limited to the above.
What could not be confirmed: his age and year of birth do not appear in any public source we have found (not on mercatitlan.com, his LinkedIn, or the Forbes México article), so they are not published; it is on record that he joined Google at 19, but no date can be inferred from that. We have also not confirmed Mercatitlán's registered legal name or business registration, the price of the Marketing Bootcamp, whose page did not load on September 9, 2026, or the current number of students: the 25,000 figure is the one Forbes published in 2021, and we have found no verifiable update. The Google recognitions listed on his website could not be verified with a Google source. He does not have his own Wikipedia article: a search for "Juan Lombana" on es.wikipedia.org on September 9, 2026 returns a single mention, within the article on the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, and no biographical entry. Among the programs he had published on that date there is no course dedicated to a specific tool such as Claude or ChatGPT: the artificial intelligence training he sells is the AI Troopers community.
