Who is Vivian Tu?

Vivian Tu is an American personal finance content creator who publishes under the brand Your Rich BFF. According to Wikipedia, she was born on March 20, 1994, in Baltimore, Maryland, and graduated from the University of Chicago in 2016. FINRA BrokerCheck lists her as registered with J.P. Morgan Securities LLC from August 22, 2016, to July 5, 2018, after passing the Series 7, Series 63 and Securities Trader exams in 2016. She later worked in digital media sales at BuzzFeed, started posting financial videos in 2021 and left BuzzFeed in 2022 to run Your Rich BFF full time.

Her projects include Your Rich BFF (media and education brand), the podcast Networth and Chill, and Ask Dolly, a financial app published on the Apple App Store by Your Rich BFF Inc. In November 2025 SoFi Technologies announced her as its honorary Chief of Financial Empowerment, extending an earlier partnership in which she hosted the YouTube series Richer Lives, according to SoFi's own announcement.

She publishes on TikTok (@yourrichbff, 2.8 million followers), YouTube (Your Rich BFF, 1.29 million subscribers, about 1,700 videos) and Instagram (@your.richbff), plus a free newsletter called enRICHed. Figures were read on September 14, 2026. Her website and SoFi cite a combined community of 8 to 10 million followers; that total is her own figure.

What she sells is not a video course. Her paid offer consists of two books and an app subscription. Rich AF: The Winning Money Mindset That Will Change Your Life (Portfolio, December 26, 2023, 336 pages) covers earning, saving accounts, taxes and investing, with a hardcover list price of $29.00 at Penguin Random House; Wikipedia reports it reached the New York Times bestseller lists. Well Endowed (HarperCollins, February 3, 2026) covers spending decisions around homeownership, marriage and family, listed at $24.00 hardcover, $16.99 e-book and $25.99 digital audiobook on HarperCollins' store. Ask Dolly is free to download, with two App Store subscriptions: Build at $19 per month or $190 per year (unlimited chats with an AI assistant called Pocket Dolly, a portfolio "recipe" and spending insights) and Beyond at $59 per month or $590 per year (adds three conversations per month with a Certified Financial Planner). She also does ticketed live talks at venues such as the Arsht Center in Miami.

On the regulatory side, Ask Dolly is an SEC-registered investment adviser (SEC file 801-134446, CRD 337843) with no disclosures listed on the SEC's Investment Adviser Public Disclosure site, and Vivian Tu (CRD 6672668) is listed as an investment adviser representative with an approved registration in Texas since May 18, 2026. Her BrokerCheck record shows no disclosures (searched on September 14, 2026). Recognition cited by Wikipedia includes Forbes 30 Under 30 and Bankrate's Best Personal Finance Influencer (2024). We did not find an independent source for the "first $1M by 27" claim that appears in her promotional biographies, and we have not confirmed who at Ask Dolly provides the CFP conversations.
